KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Western Michigan University is hosting a weeklong music festival dedicated to performers and composers who are interested in combining live performance and electronics.
The SPLICE — Summer Institute for Performance, Listening, Interpretation and Creation of Electroacoustic Music — runs Monday through Saturday in the Kalamazoo school's Dalton Center Recital Hall. The events are free and open to the public.
Concerts are held each evening at 7:30 p.m. The Wednesday performance features Joo-Won Park, the festival's guest composer and newly appointed assistant professor of music technology at Detroit's Wayne State University.
Organizers say the event, in its second year, is designed for performers and composers with or without a background in electronics.
