DETROIT (AP) — A boy accused of helping rob and kill a French street artist outside an abandoned Detroit housing project has been ordered to undergo a psychological competency exam.

Wayne County Judge Alexis Glendening granted defense lawyer George Chedraue's request Monday and set a final pre-trial hearing for Nov. 19.

The Associated Press isn't using the name of the 14-year-old, who was 13 at the time of the killing, because of his age.

Authorities say four teens participated in the slaying of 23-year-old Bilal Berreni of Paris in July 2013.

The boy faces trial in juvenile court on first-degree murder and other charges. He could be sentenced as a juvenile or adult.

Seventeen-year-old Dionte Travis, 18-year-old Jasin Curtis and 20-year-old Drequone Rich are due in court Oct. 9 in separate proceedings.
