NEW YORK (AP) — A musical about Bob Marley that uses the Jamaican reggae icon's music is in the works for next year.

Center Stage in Baltimore said Tuesday it would present the world premiere of "Marley," written and directed by company artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah. It will run from May 6 to June 14.

The show focuses on the years 1975 to 1978, when Marley survived an attempted assassination in Jamaica and went into exile in London. It will feature mid-'70s Marley albums as "Exodus," ''Kaya," and "Rastaman Vibration," which include the songs "Jamming," ''Three Little Birds" and "Roots, Rock, Reggae."

It's a collaboration between Center Stage and New York's Public Theater, where Kwei-Armah directed two productions last year. Oskar Eustis, artistic director of the Public Theater, will be the "Marley" dramaturg.
