HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Marshall University's College of Science will host a science competition next year for students in grades six through 12.
The Science Olympiad is set for Feb. 21, 2015. The competition will have 23 challenges, including earth and space science, physical science and chemistry, and life and social sciences.
The winning team will advance to the national tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska, in May 2015.
Assistant professor of physics John Winfrey says in a news release that most schools will form 15-student teams for the event. But a team could represent several schools in more rural areas.
Winfrey says the competition also offers opportunities for home-schooled students.
The registration deadline is Jan. 30.
