Bowmans Fritters

16oz Sweet Bread Dough, white or wheat

1/2 cup chopped Apple Pie Filling(or any fruit filling you choose)

1/8 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon flour

DIRECTIONS

1. Place pie filling, cinnamon and flour on top of dough and chop in with a knife until pieces are marble sized.

2. Separate into balls of dough a little bigger than a golf ball.

3. Put some flour on your cutting board. Place dough on flour and turn over to coat both sides and spread out slightly with fingers (dough should be about 1/4 inch thick).

4. Cut wax paper into 6x6 squares lightly dusted with flour.

5. Place fritter on paper and set aside to rise to double size.

6. Place them gently into 365 degree oil and fry 1 1/2 to 2 minutes each side (may need to fry longer depending on thickness of the dough)

7. After frying, let rest for a minute or two Using tongs, dip into prepared glaze(below) and coat Place on cooling rack to cool and to let glaze harden.

Bowmans Glaze

2 Tablespoons granulated sugar

1 cup Very Hot Water

2 Cups powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon Vanilla

Dissolve granulated sugar in water and then whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
