Smartphone are now a part of daily life.
People describe feeling naked without them -- and praise how they have enhanced life by putting contacts, and information at just a click away. But are the online connections being made at the expense of off line in-person experiences?
The new "Digital Divisiveness" study says the answer is yes -- and that the situation is only getting worse. Eighty nine percent of people surveyed said inappropriate use of technology has damaged at least one relationship. And nine out of ten of those surveyed said at least once a week a friend or a family member ignores them in favor of an electronic device.
It's becoming so common in fact that the research team has coined a term for the behavior: "Electronic Displays of Insensitivity."
