NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - A government official says a Kenyan court will decide whether authorities will enforce an arrest warrant for a Kenyan journalist wanted for allegedly interfering with witnesses in the war crimes case against Kenyan deputy president at the International Criminal Court.
Interior Security Minister Joseph Ole Lenku said Monday that he had received the arrest warrant from the ICC and that Kenyan law says the judiciary should decide whether journalist Walter Barasa will be arrested for allegedly tampering with a witness in the case against Deputy President William Ruto.
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to face trial at the court for crimes against humanity in November. Kenyatta, Ruto and radio broadcaster Joshua Sang are accused orchestrating post-election violence which killed more than 1,000 people following disputed elections in late 2007.
