To keep the roads safe on New Year's Eve, local departments and the Utah Highway Patrol put extra officers on the roads to deter drunk driving. One year ago, there were zero fatalities on the holiday.

A 20-year-old woman died Saturday and several other people were injured in a car crash at the intersection of Redwood Road and Bangerter Highway. Witnesses told police the woman ran a red light.
