CATTINGTON — It’s no secret that many humans become attached to their pets, and pets become attached to their owners, even beyond their need for basic care.

One cat sweetly shows its attachment to, and perhaps even empathy for, its owner when it makes small chirp-like mews in its sleep every time its owner coughs or sneezes. Not to overstate it, but the cat’s noises sound like the comforting coos any mother would give to their ailing child.

Paul Sutyrin says in the description that he doesn’t have to actually be sick for his cat to have this reaction, but it’s “particular fun when you’re ill for real.” Sutyrin also says, “I do not pull his tail behind the scenes,” which is entirely believable since I’ve never met a cat — especially a sleeping cat — that won’t fight back or take off if its tail gets pulled or poked in any way.

Whatever reason the cat chirps, it’s adorableness made even more adorable by his cozy snuggle at the end of the video.
