ST. LOUIS (AP) — Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is calling for peace, respect and restraint in advance of a grand jury announcement on whether a white police officer will be charged for fatally shooting a black 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri.
Nixon held a news conference Monday evening in St. Louis after visiting Ferguson earlier in the day and reaching out to St. Louis-area clergy. He said he didn't know what the grand jury had decided.
The announcement expected later Monday comes more than three months after Ferguson officer Darren Wilson shot Michael Brown, triggering weeks of protests.
