A new ad for Peanut Butter Cheerios is going against the grain (and I don’t mean adding peanut butter). As opposed to other ads portraying dad as the incompetent, unfit parent, Cheerios' new ad shows Dad to be “awesome.” When awakened by his son jumping on him, Actor Dad never skips a beat, even complimenting his son on his newly acquired horse mask:“I love it; It’s creepy.”

He then quickly rolls out of bed and introduces himself to viewers as, “DAAAD” as shouted by one of his daughters.

As he walks through the house, starting first with his daughter on his back, TV Dad wakes up kids, grabs coffee for his wife, gives fashion advice to his son, compliments his teenage daughter on her profile pic, all while narrating “how to dad.”

“We get our hands messy. We tell hilarious jokes. We never say no to dress-up. We build the best forts. We do work-work and we do homework. We lead by example. We blow their minds. … Being awesome isn’t about breaking rules, it’s about making them. … Hugs can be bear hugs, but they can also be high-fives, fist bumps and next level hand shakes. … And breakfast is for breakfast; but it’s also for lunch, dinner and midnight snacks.”

Of course there is not only one way 'to dad.' And just as TV Dad says, “Dadhood isn’t always easy. … And we wouldn’t have it any other way, because being a dad is awesome.” Concluding, “This, my friends, is how to dad.”
