SAO PAULO (AP) — Argentina defeated the Netherlands in a World Cup semifinal decided by a 4-2 advantage in penalty kicks. The Argentines advance to play Germany in Sunday's World Cup final.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A person familiar with the situation says Pat Riley has gotten his chance to convince LeBron James to stay in Miami. The person told The Associated Press that the Miami Heat president met with the four-time NBA MVP on Wednesday afternoon in Las Vegas, more than two weeks after James opted out of his contract and elected to become a free agent.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Calling her "a pig," a raging Donald Sterling has denounced his wife, her lawyers and the NBA from the witness stand and says he would never sell the Los Angeles Clippers. Sterling, his voice rising to a shout in an otherwise quiet courtroom Wednesday, vowed to spend the rest of his life suing the league as he fights his wife's proposed $2 billion sale of the Clippers.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey Devils signed goaltender Cory Schneider to a seven year, $42 million contract extension. He would have been an unrestricted free agent at the end of the upcoming season. Schneider is replacing veteran Martin Brodeur (mar-TAN' broh-DYOOR') as the Devils No. 1 goalie.
