As for the money, it's not cheap to photograph that plane. We don't do it often, but when we do it's okay to spend the money.

Obama Aide Who Authorized Air Force One Flight Quits

Luis Caldera, the White House aide who authorized a low-altitude flight over New York City by the plane used as Air Force One, has resigned because of the fallout. Let's review what happened. He authorized a giant jet-liner to sweep super-close to the Manhattan skyline for a few cool photos of a plane. New York then has a collective heart attack. And it only cost taxpayers a mere $357,000. Happy trails, Mr. Caldera.
