Skies are becoming increasingly cloudy with a few showers beginning to form over northern Utah at this time. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, with some producing brief heavy rain, frequent lightning, microburst winds and small hail. Those venturing into the back country (especially dry washes and slot canyons) should be prepared for unsettled weather today. Watch for deadly lightning strikes and be aware of potential flash floods when heavy rains hit. The weather will dry out to some degree on Sunday, so the chance for thundershowers will be primarily over the mountains.
