Go to more safety tips

No matter what the age, most people look forward to playing outside
during the warm summer months.
But if you're not careful, riding bikes, swimming, or camping can be
dangerous.
In today's Family Now report, some Utah children show us how to play it safe
in the summer.
Just last week, we asked students at Edison Elementary School to give us
some advice about how to be safe doing their favorite things this summer.
Riding bikes is popular, and the kids all knew how to take care of
themselves.
"Wear a helmet and knee and elbow pads," they told us.
And what about summer fun at the pool?
"Don't dive in the shallow part and don't push people in the swimming pool and
don't stay under water too long."
"You should dive where it's deep."
And they knew what would happen if they ran by the side of the pool.
"You shouldn't run or you'll slip and fall and hit your head."
And a few kids told us they are already in the habit of wearing sunscreen.
Since many families take road trips in the summer, we quizzed the children
about what they should first do when they get in a car.
They answered:
"Sit in the back seat and buckle up."
