Once in a lifetime gelding for the family

$8,000.00

Plymouth, UT | 6 Hours
For Sale!!!!! Boots is a 12 year old black quarter horse gelding. He stands 15.1 hands tall and he is everything you see and more!!!! Alright, here he is in one package. Every day I get calls and texts and folks want to buy this good gelding or one just like him. He is broke broke broke. My son is 5 years old and he can do everything on the ranch all by himself on this horse. Boots takes care of him and when dad has to leave and go get around some cows I never ever wonder if Porter is ok riding Boots. Boots does not get barn sour or love sick. He is quiet and calm and yet still enough horse a cowboy can go do a big job on him. Just today my 16 year old placed 11th in a 275 team ropin. The horse can head or heel and has been used as a turn back horse. He has a handle like a cuttin horse and can be ridden in virtually any bridle. Boots is broke. He has a big stop and will jerk the back end off any cow. My 5 year old son can open and close gates while riding Boots. He has trailed cattle all over the ranch and is the solid baby sitter. He will watch a cow and has drug lots of calves to the fire by the kids! Horses like this do NOT come in big bunches. He has 4 socks, a star on his forehead and a big white snip on the nose. Boots never bucks, he has been all over and isnt spooky, he would be great for beginners and is a cowboys number one tool. This is a rare opportunity to own a true northern gelding from the ranch country of Idaho. We jave made some decisions as a family and have decided its his turn to go. He would make any family an incredible horse to rope or ranch or recreate on. He is safe and broke. Its just really not possible to explain how nice this gelding really is. Easy in every way. He is located at the Hulme Ranch in Downey Idaho. We can arrange shipping anywhere. Do not miss this opportunity to own a once in a life time gelding. Call or text 208 220 7411. Priced at $8000. more

15 Year Old Palomino Roan Gelding, 16 hh

$1,600.00

Orem, UT | 6 Hours
'Sully' is a great guy- he's very responsive neck reining, easy to catch, load, groom, tack up, loves attention, very personable, no problems with a fly mask or spray, quite a gentleman-not pushy. Easter weekend we had a party at our house, we got pony paints to finger paint on the horses- he stood there as calm as can be while about 8 kids were painting on him. And then the next week he stood there great for me while I washed it off - he's fun to ride, walks out nice down the road. Here's a bit of background on him.....I purchased him last September from a lady that buys and sells horses. She told me he was 5 years old, sound, great horse, etc. Well, he is a great horse, but that's about all she had right. Last fall we took him on several big trail rides, with no issues. Until the last one, in November. It had been raining, so it was muddy, and he slipped a bit going down a steep trail. The next day I noticed a bit of a limp at the trot in his right hind leg. So I gave him two weeks off, and then tried again to trot in the arena (he doesn't limp at the walk, only the trot, and even then it can be hard to see) Anyway, still a bit of a limp, so I called the vet. He came and checked him out, said he thought he might have pulled something in his hip, and to give him 4-6 months off riding, and he should be fine. He also said this horse isn't 5, his teeth say he's 13-15. So we gave him his time off over the winter, and then it was spring. First time on him after 5 months off, he was as good as if he'd been ridden yesterday- he behaved wonderfully. No limp at the walk. But when asked to trot, I could still detect a bit of a limp. So we took him to the vet, they kept him a couple days to do a series of nerve block injections, so we could really pinpoint which joint/area was causing the problem. First nerve block was for the fetlock joint, and it took his limp away completely. Vet said he was frisking around like a young colt. Vet did X-rays, and discovered a bone spur, (which take years to develop) and his recommendation was this- either mostly ride on fairly level ground, such as arenas or along the road, so as to not push him too hard, or, do something called 'nerving' him. That would be cutting the nerve to that joint, and then since he wouldn't be able to feel that foot, he'd be pain free. And since it's a hind foot, it just follows the front one, so tripping shouldn't be a problem. Costs about $400. Well my situation is this- we live in Genola, and ride all over west mountain, plus go into the mountains in the summer and do big trail rides. Doesn't make sense to have several other horses that can do that type of riding, and then have this one that I need to ride on the roads. And I hesitate to nerve him for me- what if it really wouldn't work for the type of riding I do? I paid a heck of a lot more for him than I'm selling him for, so if I put in another $400, and then sell him anyway, I'd be out even more. So the solution seems to be, sell him for what I can, then buy another horse that can handle the type of riding I do. So, in the meantime I've been riding him on the roads about 4 times a week, usually 3-5 mile rides, we walk, trot some, lope some, and it hasn't caused any additional issues or pain for him. So- if you want a well trained horse, with a fun personality, for light to moderate riding, at a great price, he's your guy. Come try him out- you'll love him! Anyone with basic riding skills can ride him- probably not best for a complete beginner, he is quite responsive, so he'll definitely go when asked, and can stop and turn quite handily, so if a beginner pulls too hard they may get a harder stop than they really wanted. For $500 more I'll include a halter, lead rope, fly mask, bridle, saddle (bought new in Sept, 16 in seat) and saddle blanket. Up to date on spring shots and worming. Reasonable offers considered.
