THE GREAT WHITE NORTH — Snow is incredible stuff. Did you know that snowflakes can fall at speeds up to 9 mph? And that fallen snow absorbs sound waves, which is why everything can seem calmer and quieter after a storm?
Another cool fact is that in extreme cases, snowflakes can reach sizes up to 6 inches across or more. More incredibly, it's believed that snow sometimes falls on Mars.
As much as we might admire snow, it also has the ability to break our spirit. Anyone who has ever tried to shovel off their driveway in the midst of a blizzard can probably relate. Just when you might feel as though you're making progress, snow has the ability to undo it all and highlight just how powerless you were in the first place.
In the worst of times, you begin to feel like Sisyphus trying to roll that massive rock up the hill for eternity. For example, take this video from Canada:
