MAGNA — A motorcyclist is in surgery following a crash, authorities said Saturday night.

A single motorcyclist lost control of their bike and laid it down at 9180 West in Magna, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Michael Gordon said. The motorcycle then hit the median area and crashed into the wall.

The cause for the loss of control and the motorcyclist's identity are currently unknown.

Gordon said the motorcyclist was transported to Intermountain Healthcare with "massive head trauma" and is undergoing surgery, though the motorcyclists condition is unknown.

It is also unknown if the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
