MIDVALE — A teen who had been missing since he was last seen at a high school Thursday was located by state troopers Monday afternoon, police said.
Ricky Marrott, 15, was located by Utah Highway Patrol troopers, according to Unified police.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Nick Street said a sergeant saw a teen walking southbound on I-215 between state Route 201 and 3500 South in West Valley City. The trooper stopped and talked to him before he took the teen to a nearby school.
School administrators then worked to identify the teen as Ricky, whom Unified police had asked for the public's help in locating earlier Monday, Street said. The teen was then put in contact with his parents.
Street added the boy didn't need medical care.
Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray said Ricky had last been seen leaving Hillcrest High School, 7350 S. 900 East, Thursday afternoon. Officials had asked for the public's help after exhausting leads in the case over the weekend.
Officials said they didn't know if Ricky was a runaway, but also said there wasn't evidence that he was taken against his will when they asked for the public's help.
Editor's note: Unified police officials said Ricky was had been located at I-15 and 2100 South, but Utah Highway Patrol said he was on I-215.
