SALT LAKE CITY — Two fires in Utah County have burned over 113,000 acres combined, according to officials.

The Pole Creek Fire has burned 95,701 acres and is 32 percent contained as of Thursday evening. The Bald Mountain Fire has burned 17,608 acres and is 12 percent contained.

U.S. Highway 6 through Spanish Fork Canyon reopened Thursday morning, fire officials said on social media.

U.S. Highway 89 reopened later Thursday evening, according to Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon. U.S. Highway 6 has been closed on and off for about a week due to fire activity in the area.

The fires forced the evacuation of about 6,000 residents, but residents on U.S. Highway 89 from the Eagles Landing development, near milepost 302, were allowed back into their homes Wednesday. The area is now on pre-evacuation status.

As of 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Highway 89 is open from the junction with U.S. Highway 6 to the Utah-Sanpete county line, and residents who live along Highway 89 are allowed to return home. The area will be put on pre-evacuation status, according to Cannon.

There is now a website available with information about the Utah County fires and relief efforts at utahcountyrelief.org.
