OUR IMAGINATION — What happens when Warner Brothers hires a group of A-list celebrities to play a team of DC's B-list villains in an Avengers-style summer blockbuster? You get the highly anticipated “Suicide Squad” — a film expected to bring in over $100 million its opening weekend.

As the numbers suggest, the excitement for this baddie-mashup is huge, with fans counting the minutes to opening night — myself included. And what better way is there to kill some wait time for a villain-crossover-blockbuster than to muse about other baddie-mashups in other cinematic universes?

Keeping in mind that DC’s Suicide Squad excludes main villains like the Joker, Penguin or Riddler, I’ve come up with my fantasy suicide squad scenarios for the Disney, "Star Wars" and Marvel cinematic universes. Some of the references are obscure so I’ve tried to include as many references and links as possible, but really, there are more Captain Boomerangs on this list than Harley Quinns.

If you think of your perfect team, let us know in the comments or hit us up on Twitter @KslPopReport and we’ll discuss your ideas on this week’s KSL Popcorn Report podcast.

Let’s get started:

Disney/Pixar

Disney and Pixar have a fantastic set of B-list villains, which strangely, made this the most difficult list to compile.

With that said, I think we can all agree Kronk ("The Emperor’s New Groove") is a leader who commands respect. He has a keen memory, the ability to speak with squirrels and shouts orders like, “Three oinkers wearing pants, plate of hot air, basket of Grandma's breakfast and change the bull to a gill.”

Lock, Shock and Barrel ("The Nightmare Before Christmas") are the perfect smash and grab artists, and Andy’s sadistic toy-killing neighbor Sid ("Toy Story") would make for a great demolition expert (he might seem like a main villain but we all know jealousy was the real enemy in “Toy Story”).

With Darla’s ("Finding Nemo") skills as an assassin, the only thing left for the team to acquire would be a flying nightlight. That’s right, the last and by far most obscure teammate on the list is Lady Lightbug, from “The Adventures of Mr. Incredible.”

Lady Lightbug was almost too much for Mr. Incredible, Frozone and Mr. Skipperdoo. Imagine what she could accomplish when paired with this team of misfits.

'Star Wars'

Would you really need an entire team of cinematic "Star Wars" bad guys to make a super team? It seems like getting original-trilogy Boba Fett ("The Empire Strikes Back") in the same room as Darth Maul ("The Phantom Menace") would already be too much for any combination of galactic heroes.

But let’s go ahead and disqualify Maul by saying even though he was just an apprentice and even though he says like three lines in the one movie he’s in, he’s a main villain. That leaves Fett to lead our team, and once in charge, I think we can safely say he’d recruit fellow bounty hunter and would-be Padmé assassin, Zam Wesell ("Attack of the Clones"), to shape-shift her way in and out of sticky situations.

For intense hand-to-hand combat, Fett would invite Captain Phasma ("The Force Awakens"), a storm trooper who trains soldiers like FN-2199 to go head-to-head with lightsaber-wielding good guys, and then to round things out, Fett would add Lak Sivrak ("A New Hope"). Fett, I imagine, gets a drink from time to time with Sivrak at the Cantina, because who wouldn’t want to be friends with a werewolf?

Marvel

Let’s just get this out of the way. Since we’re sticking with cinematic bad guys, existing Marvel Suicide-Squad-like teams such as the Thunderbolts and the Sinister Six are off the table. Remember, we’re talking characters who have at least made it to a DVD extra.

When I mentioned to fellow KSL.com movie guy, John Clyde, that I was compiling this list, his comment was, “I actually like General Zemo from Marvel. Dude can concoct a terrifying plan.” Normally we’d disqualify Zemo since he was the main baddie in “"Captain America: Civil War",” but since Clyde was excited about him, we’ll ignore that fact and let Zemo lead our Marvel team.

With Zemo in charge, he’d probably recruit intelligence first which means Mr. Blue who was played by Tim Blake Nelson in the Edward Norton driven “The Incredible Hulk.” (Dr. Samuel Sterns would be an obvious choice, as would William Stryker) ("X2"). Also, if your show only making it to Netflix automatically qualifies you as a B-lister villain, Zemo would be crazy not to invite Kilgrave ("Jessica Jones") to the team.

That gives Zemo’s team more than enough brains to out-think and manipulate almost any Avenger matchup, but just in case things did end in fisticuffs, making sure Lady Deathstrike (X2) and Juggernaut ("X-Men: The Last Stand") were in the lineup would be the smart thing to do.

Other squads

That’s going to do it for my fantasy league Suicide Squads. Make sure to check out this week’s KSL Popcorn Report for additional thoughts from Angie Treasure and John Clyde, and again, let us know your perfect matchup so we can continue the discussion. There may even be some prizes awarded to our favorite ideas.
