Kent Norton joined KSL 5 Eyewitness News in 1973 and is currently the weather anchor for the weekend newscasts. Kent considers himself to be a broadcaster specializing in the presentation of weather; not a weatherman involved with broadcasting.

Kent received a B.S. in Communications from the University of Utah. He has been involved in various forms of broadcasting, including disc jockeying and news assignments in radio, as well as commercial and public service production. Prior to working at KSL 5, he reported weather at channel 4.

In addition to his involvement in broadcasting, Kent is trained as a lawyer. He received his J.D. degree from Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School and became a member of the Utah State Bar in 1978. He says his "entrepreneurial spirit" will probably take him in a new direction during the week every few years-but his heart, and weekends, belong to broadcasting!

Kent has been active in civic and community affairs since graduating from Ogden High School in 1969. He has served with the Osmond Foundation, the Utah Division of the American Cancer Society, Bonneville Exchange Club, and the Mormon Youth Symphony and Chorus. He hosts the local annual Easter Seals Telethon. Kent is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Kent met his wife, the former Jane Marie Ashton, at the University of Utah, where she obtained a B.S. degree in Home Economics. The Nortons have three daughters and one son.
