Utah, San Diego State looking for redemption after loses
November 19th, 2009 @ 3:41pm

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. -- Going head to head Saturday in Salt Lake City are two teams looking to rebound from disappointing losses.

The San Diego Aztecs are kicking themselves after blowing a 21-point fourth quarter lead to the Wyoming Cowboys last week.

The loss forces the Aztecs (4-6, 2-4 MWC) into a must-win situation for the rest of the season to become bowl-eligible.

The No. 21 ranked University of Utah is licking its wounds after a resounding beat down by the Horned Frogs of TCU.

The Utes (8-2, 5-1), especially freshman quarterback Jordan Wynn and wide receiver David Reed, had flashes of brilliance, but a typically stout Utah defense looked a step slow both physically and mentally.

Utah linebacker Stevenson Sylvester called it, "one of our worst performances."

Both teams have something on the line Saturday; both teams are looking for some sort of redemption.

"You've got to move forward win or lose because the schedule is out there and we still got a lot to play for," first-time SDSU Head Coach Brady Hoke said during his weekly press conference, noticing his team failed to take advantage of several opportunities- blaming it on poor execution.

"We've got to develop a program and develop an attitude within our program, offensively, defensively and in the kicking game and stick with what we believe in," Hoke continued.

Wynn continues to make strides for the Ute offense and made several key plays in the TCU game to get Utah on the scoreboard. His performance against the Horned Frogs (16-32, 219 yards, 1 TD) was not lost on Hoke.

"This young man is a real football guy. You can just see it in his decisions, composure and the poise he has," Hoke said. "He's a guy who makes a lot of great decisions- he's able to move their offense."

While Hoke expects to see progress from his team against Utah, Ute fans hope… and expect to see Wynn and the Ute offense hit full stride heading into rivalry week and a showdown against No. 22 BYU.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is scheduled for 2 p.m. from Rice-Eccles Stadium.
