There's one week left to go until "New Moon" comes out, and Utah is leading the nation in ticket sales already.
When "Twilight" came out, Utah's Megaplex Theatres were first, second and third in the nation for attendance. Now they lead the nation for pre-sales of new moon tickets.
Kirsten Wright believes it. She says, "As much as so many people loved "Twilight," the movie this year looks like it will be even better."
Wright is with the huge Utah-based fan group Twilight Moms, and its offshoot Events By Alice.
She says, "I'm not even sure why the fan base is so strong here, but it really is."
Wright says Twilight Moms now has between 30,000 and 40,000 members worldwide. She says sisters, neighbors, moms, grandmas and daughters are all going together to see the movie. Their group's reserved theaters probably have at least 2,000 people already signed up for the midnight showings alone.
The five Megaplex Theatres are expecting capacity crowds at the company's 69 screens from Lehi to Ogden during opening weekend.
The American Red Cross will be drawing blood from "Twilight" fans at the Jordan Commons Megaplex 17 location in Sandy on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. and on Friday, Nov. 20, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Twilight fans can donate in honor of either Edward or Bella.
Many theaters are also having their own parties and events surrounding the premiere.
