CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- A former Utah lawyer has pleaded guilty to charges of failing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars from a settlement to relatives of victims of a plane crash.
Matthew Graff pleaded guilty Friday in district court to two counts of unlawful dealing of property by a fiduciary and one count of communications fraud, all second-degree felonies.
He faces one to 15 years on each count when he's sentenced Jan. 22.
Graff practiced law in Cedar City and St. George before giving up his license.
According to court documents, the 38-year-old Graff owes $848,875 to two men whose wives died in a plane crash last August near Moab that also killed eight other people.
Iron County Attorney Scott Garrett says other victims also are promised restitution under the plea agreement reached with Graff.
