DAGGETT COUNTY -- A 15-year-old boy is in serious condition after being accidentally shot in the abdomen Saturday morning while on a hunting trip.

The boy was at Trail Creek, located just west of Dutch John, Utah, when the accident occurred. Daggett County sheriff's investigators say the boy was hit when he stood up and his muzzleloader accidentally discharged.

Emergency crews responded and treated the boy on scene until he could be flown to a nearby hospital. He has been stabilized and is expected to survive.
