SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz have found their next two-way contract player.

Tyler Cavanaugh has signed a two-way deal with the Jazz, the organization announced Wednesday, joining teammate Naz Mitrou-Long as players who will spend the majority of their contract with the Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA G League but also be eligible for up to 45 days of playing/practice time with the Jazz during the 2018-19 season.

Cavanaugh, a 6-foot-9, 238-pound forward from George Washington, played in 39 games last year for the Atlanta Hawks. He averaged 4.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game for the Hawks a year ago, and also played 11 games for the G League affiliate Erie BayHawks.

Cavanaugh worked out for the Jazz prior to the 2017 NBA Draft, but ended up going undrafted before signing with the Hawks.

A native of Syracuse, New York, Cavanaugh played two seasons at Wake Forest before finishing his career at George Washington. He averaged 18.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists en route to All-Atlantic 10 second-team honors in 2017, and led the Colonials 2017 NIT championship while taking tournament most outstanding player honors.

Georges Niang, a former two-way player for the SLC Stars/Utah Jazz, signed a three-year contract with the Jazz in July with one season guaranteed.
