WEST JORDAN — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man they say gained access to someone’s checking account and withdrew $5,000 through multiple transactions at an ATM earlier this year.

West Jordan police posted on Facebook Wednesday three images of the man withdrawing money from an ATM in the city which began in May, according to West Jordan Police Sgt. J.C. Holt.

“He was able to get access to the checking account that wasn’t his and he transferred money from that account to another account that he obviously had access to, and then he withdrew money from ATM machines,” Holt said.

The post was shared more than 2,500 times since Wednesday morning. Holt said police have received good leads from people since it was posted, but officials have not yet made a firm identification and no arrests have been as of Thursday evening.

Anyone who may have any information about the man is encouraged to call West Jordan police at 801-840-4000.
