ST. GEORGE (AP) — A former school counselor in southwest Utah has admitted she engaged in sexual activity a decade ago with a then-high school student.
The Spectrum reports that 50-year-old Heidi Tasso on Thursday pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old person.
Court records show a woman in June 2016 told police she was a 17-year-old student at Millcreek High School when Tasso kissed and touched her in June 2008. The woman told police the encounter happened at Tasso's home in St. George.
Tasso is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 9. The newspaper reports Fifth District Court Judge John Walton says prosecutors recommended Tasso does not serve time in prison.
Tasso's teaching license was revoked in 2016, when she worked at Dixie State University.
