WEST VALLEY CITY — One person was found dead in a car that caught on fire Wednesday afternoon.

The car fire took place near 6400 W. Parkway Boulevard shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, dispatchers said. The person was found dead in the car when officials got to the scene.

As of 6:30 p.m., the identity of the person was not available, according to West Valley City police Lt. Steve Burke.

It appeared that the car hit a tree and caught fire after the driver experienced a medical issue, Burke said. There was no indication that it was a suicide attempt, he said.

No other details about the death were immediately available.
