TAYLORSVILLE — A man believed to be in his 20s is dead and a 27-year-old woman is in custody after a hit-and-run crash at Taylorsville crosswalk.

The accident happened about 9 p.m. Wednesday at Redwood Road and 4200 South, said Unified Police Department Lt. Brian Lohrke. Witnesses told detectives that a silver Cadillac Escalade fled after the crash, he said.

Officers found the vehicle at 4700 S. Redwood Road about 20 minutes later and detained the driver, Lohrke said.

Southbound Redwood Road was expected to remain closed to traffic for several hours late Wednesday.

"It's very early on, so we don't have much information right now," Lohrke said.

Police did not immediately release the names of anyone involved in the crash.
