SALT LAKE CITY — Visiting Arizona State rolled over a lackluster Utah Saturday, beating the Utes 30-10 in a rare day game for both programs.

The Utes lacked emotion in the first half and failed to gain momentum as the offense continued to stall drive after drive. Utah’s defense, too, had no answer, and the Sun Devils were able to drive at will, making Utah pay in the run game, finishing with 172 rushing yards in the first half. The Sun Devils finished with 198 rushing yards.

Arizona State started off the game with three consecutive field goals before a 94-yard drive late in the second quarter, capped off by a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Demario Richard to shutout the Utes in the first half. Sun Devils quarterback Manny Wilkins scored another 1-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter and Jay Jay Wilson picked off Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley for a 20-yard touchdown score to put the Utes away.

Utah starting quarterback Tyler Huntley returned for the first time since sustaining an injury in the first half of September's Arizona game. However, Huntley’s start was unimpressive as he finished the night throwing 19-of-35 for 155 yards and four interceptions.

With a loss to the Sun Devils, the Utes have dropped three straight games and are now 1-3 in the Pac-12. It’s the first time since 2013 that Utah has lost three consecutive games. Utah lost five consecutive games that season.
