SALT LAKE CITY — South Salt Lake police are searching for an armed man who they say robbed a convenience store early Thursday.

The man was wearing black clothing, gloves and a bandana over his face when he entered the 7-Eleven at 2694 S. State Street around 1:15 a.m., according to South Salt Lake police Sgt. Darren Carr.

The robber lifted his shirt to show the clerk a gun, then took a small amount of money and left, Carr said. No shots were fired and no one was injured.

A detailed description of the robber was not immediately released. Anyone with information can call South Salt Lake police at at 801-840-4000.

In a separate, earlier incident, three people robbed a Maverik store in Salt Lake City late Wednesday night.

Three men entered the store at 310 S. 900 East around 11:20 p.m., according to Salt Lake City police Lt. Gary Trost. One of them had a gun, but no shots were fired during the robbery and no one was injured. The three took some items from the store then fled in a car.

Officers spotted a car matching the description of the robbers' vehicle and followed it until it stopped at 1625 S. Concord. A group of people from the car tried to run away. At least one of them apparently fled into the nearby Jordan River, Trost said.

Police took three people into custody and were trying to determine their names and ages.
