ST. GEORGE — Homeowners hoping to sell a house in St. George said someone dragged in garden hoses, turned on all the faucets and left the water running throughout the house.

Homeowner Cheryl Styler said the crime was senseless.

“We are shocked and devastated. Who in the world would fathom doing such a thing?” she said.

The house was shown to potential buyers on Friday, July 14, and Styler believes one of the realtors must have left a window or door unlocked.

Someone else went by to see the home and saw water coming out of the garage. That person called their realtor, who reported the incident to the Stylers’ realtor, who didn’t get the message until Monday. As a result, water was pouring throughout the house the entire weekend.

“There was so much water that it was coming out of the foundation and out of the stucco. It soaked everything,” Styler said.

The Stylers hope someone can give the police information in regards to who committed the vandalism. They said they were told their homeowners’ insurance won’t cover the at least $20,000 in damages because the house was vacant for 30 days.
