PROVO — One man was sent to the hospital after being shot in the chest Friday evening and police arrested another man in connection with the incident, according to Provo police.

Robbie Heiner, 22, was shot around 6:40 p.m. near 100 S. 600 West, police said. He fled to a neighbor’s home for help and was later transported to Utah Valley Hospital. No information was immediately available Saturday morning regarding his condition.

Officers took three men into custody after the shooting and eventually arrested Caleb Plainer, 22, on suspicion of attempted murder.

Provo Police Sgt. Brian Taylor said Saturday the shooting followed a dispute over a gun.

Taylor said Heiner told police he was "confronted about tinkering or tampering with another man's firearm" and an altercation erupted that resulted in the shooting.

Taylor described the victim's injuries as serious.
