SOUTH JORDAN — A 22-year-old woman was killed early Saturday when the Ford F-150 she was driving rolled on Mountain View Corridor, South Jordan police said.

Police responding to the crash at about 5 a.m. found Mikel Bristol Sorenson, of West Jordan, had been ejected from the truck. She was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Sorenson was traveling south on the Mountain View Corridor at 10900 South when police say her truck drifted into the right shoulder. She overcorrected and crashed into the median, rolling the truck. Sorenson was not wearing a seat belt.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, but they believe Sorenson was traveling at a high rate of speed. They have not ruled out impaired or distracted driving.

“Wearing a properly fitted and fastened seat belt, driving at the appropriate speed limits, and putting away anything which may cause a distraction while driving will reduce your likelihood of serious or even fatal crashes significantly,” said South Jordan Police Sgt. Samuel Winkler.
