ADAMSVILLE, Beaver County — A retired couple living in Beaver County was found dead Saturday after the husband called police to say he had killed his wife and would be dead himself by the time deputies arrived.

Tom Nickells, 76, was found under a tree outside his house in Adamsville, and his wife, Sandra Nickells, 73, who was reportedly bedridden and suffered from dementia, was found inside the house, according to the Beaver County Sheriff's Office.

Beaver County Sheriff Cameron Noel said Tom Nickells called the sheriff’s office about 6:35 p.m. Saturday to tell police he had shot his wife and was going to kill himself.

The couple was originally from Texas.
