SANDY — Yura Movsisyan didn’t start Real Salt Lake’s first match after a brief international break Saturday night.

But he scored the most important goal of the night.

Movsisyan’s goal in the 84th minute was the game-winner, and RSL took all three points via a 1-0 win over Minnesota United to help Salt Lake snap a two-match winless streak Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium.

"At the end of the day, you get a zero," RSL coach Mike Petke said. "In the first half, they listened and got a really good block defensively. But then we got the goal at the end of the game.

"It was an exciting game for everybody."

RSL (5-10-2) outshot expansion Minnesota 29-5, but United goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth made eight saves to keep the match scoreless through 80 minutes.

But Movsisyan, who entered the match in the 70th minute for starter Luis Silva, caught Shuttleworth napping after saving a corner kick headed on frame by Justen Glad.

RSL’s U.S. international trio of Glad, Brooks Lennon and Danny Acosta started their first game together since returning from the U-20 World Cup in South Korea. The group, along with RSL’s Sebastian Saucedo and academy product Aaron Herrera, helped Tab Ramos’ squad to the quarterfinals of the tournament before a loss to runner-up Venezuela.

Jefferson Savarino started at attacking midfield in place of designated player Albert Rusnak, who was away with international duty for Slovakia.

Salt Lake plays at San Jose on June 24, when it will be without midfielder Kyle Beckerman serving a suspension for yellow-card accumulation. RSL’s next home match comes June 30 against former coach Jason Kreis and Orlando City SC.
