GRADUATING IN CLAYMATION — It’s graduation season on college campuses across America.

But football isn’t far away (BYU media day is in five weeks, for the record). And any chance we can get to squeeze in news from the gridiron, we will take.

That includes in our Great Clips of the Week.

Pres. Trump announces BYU-Liberty series

Pres. Donald Trump spoke to the Class of 2017 at Liberty University on Saturday.

And he broke a little news in Provo, as well.

As the president was announcing Liberty’s first-ever Football Bowl Subdivision schedule, he dropped the Flames' future opponents — and it included a home-and-home series with BYU beginning in 2019, as well as a date with fellow independent Army.

“I might be at that game; I don’t know,” Trump said. “Who am I supposed to root for? Tell me.”

How many college football teams have series announced by the Commander-in-Chief? Liberty will play at BYU on Nov. 9, 2019, with the return trip to Lynchburg, Virginia, scheduled for Oct. 22, 2022.

Will Ferrell serenades USC Class of 2017

This one isn’t sports-related, but it’s too good not to share.

Comedian Will Ferrell has been a fixture at Southern California football games, and he give the commencement speech to the Trojans’ Class of 2017 on Saturday.

And it included a vocal tribute to Whitney Houston (rest in peace) and her classic, “I will always love you.”

Ferrell, a 1990 USC graduate with a degree in sports information, received an honorary doctorate from the university.

It’s a Wonderful Pop

You’ve seen legendary Spurs coach Gregg Popovich dropping one-liners in on-court interviews and epic press conferences.

But you’ve never seen him in claymation — until now, thanks to ESPN.

To paraphrase Pop in person: no comment.
