CLEARFIELD — A crash involving a motorcyclist and a minivan briefly closed northbound I-15 to allow a medical helicopter to land on the freeway Friday morning, police said.
The crash, which happened around 11 a.m., has since been moved to the shoulder of the road allowing traffic to move on the freeway, which was reopened just before 11:40 a.m.
All three lanes of the freeway had been closed near 650 North in Clearfield to allow the medical helicopter to transport the motorcyclist, Utah Highway Patrol said.
Officials said the motorcyclist wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered severe head trauma in the crash and was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
No other information about the crash was immediately released. UDOT expected the crash to be completely cleared at about 2:10 p.m.
Another crash on northbound I-15 involving injuries was reported in North Salt Lake, South Davis Metro Fire said. The department said it was cleaning fuel spill from the crash on northbound I-15, noting that drivers should avoid the freeway between 215 and 2600 South.
