TOOELE COUNTY — Police identified three people who were taken into custody Saturday evening after a traffic stop turned fugitive hunt that lasted throughout the day.
Joseph Dodd, Adrian Ladson and Darrion Martel Williams were taken into custody Saturday. Police have not yet released what the individuals were booked on. Police released additional details about Saturday's events, but did not say who did what.
Authorities were attempting to locate two of the occupants of the car after a Utah Highway Patrol trooper stopped the vehicle they were in for a lane violation on I-80 near the Saltair resort. The driver of the vehicle stayed with the trooper, but two men got out of the vehicle and ran away.
On Saturday troopers initially thought one of the men who fled had carjacked a vehicle. They later learned that a citizen had instead volunteered a ride to the man on the run. The citizen did not know the suspect was a fugitive, police said. That suspect was later located because of the Department of Public Safety’s helicopter, and was taken into custody.
The other man who fled police was taken into custody in Tooele as he was getting into a taxi that was heading towards the Salt Lake City International airport.
Charges are pending.
