IN THE PLAYOFFS — The Utah Jazz are “back in the playoff groove,” and so is this weekend’s edition of Great Clips of the Week.
If you are missing your weekly allotment of great plays from baseball, soccer, rugby or international cricket, we apologize. But there are 51 more weeks in the year.
Here are some of our favorite moments from the weekend, including the Utah Jazz’s first postseason victory in seven seasons.
Joe Johnson is ‘King of the World’
How do you improve a buzzer-beating bank shot in the first round of the playoffs by a team making its first postseason appearance in five years, à la Jazz guard Joe Johnson?
By adding the Titanic theme song to it, of course.
Fans of Twitter will know @TitanicHoops, which puts incredible plays to the critically acclaimed motion picture’s theme song by Celine Dion. It’s a schtick that has stuck, and some people may be sick of the internet and its websites, Twitter accounts and Facebook pages that flood social media with GIFs, Vines and short videos every day.
But Jazz fans will like this one.
Johnson was also causing all sorts of headaches for Clippers point guard Chris Paul in the final minutes at Staples Center.
Paul wasn’t happy with his teammates as he didn’t get any help covering “Iso Joe,” and he made sure everybody knew it.
Easter Bunny flattens former president
OK, here’s one play from the baseball diamond, since it’s April.
During the Presidents’ Race hosted by the Washington Nationals on Easter Sunday, one character didn’t feel included.
When Teddy Roosevelt was on his way to a commanding win, the Easter Bunny stealthily snuck up on the former president — and laid out with an arm tackle that drilled Teddy to the ground.
In related news, sources indicate the Cleveland Browns will be flying Bunny into Cleveland for a pre-draft interview.
