RIVERTON — A 76-year-old man is in critical condition after a crash Friday evening, police said.

Emergency crews responded to a report of the crash near 12900 S. Redwood Road shortly after 5:35 p.m., according to Unified Police Lt. Dan McConkey.

McConkey said a 76-year-old man was driving a red Ford Expedition traveling southbound on Redwood Road when it collided with a white pickup truck driven by a 20-year-old man.

McConkey said the driver of the Expedition was extracted from the vehicle and flown to Intermountain Medical Center in "extremely" critical condition.

The driver of the pickup received minor injuries.

A major crash reconstruction team was at the scene investigating, McConkey said. He added that police are unsure what caused the crash and received "conflicting stories" about what happened.

More information will be added as soon as it is made available.
