LARAMIE, Wyo. — One final college basketball team remained alive in a postseason tournament Wednesday as Utah Valley entered Wyoming’s Arena-Auditorium in the College Basketball Invitational semifinals.

And the Wolverines almost had enough for another historic win.

Justin James had a game-high 16 points and five rebounds, and Jason McManamen and Louis Adams added 12 points apiece as Wyoming advanced to the CBI championship game with a 74-68 home win Wednesday evening.

Isaac Neilson had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Conner Toolson added 15 points for Utah Valley. Brandon Randolph supplied 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Wolverines.

Utah Valley (17-17) pulled within three, 50-53 on Randolph’s laying with 11:46 remaining. But the Pokes used a 6-0 spurt as UVU went cold for three minutes without a field goal to take a 59-51 edge with 8:30 remaining.

Neilson’s 3-pointer pulled the Wolverines within two, 65-63 with 5:04 remaining, and Randolph capped an 8-0 run with a pair of free throws that tied the game at 65-all 20 seconds later.

UVU took a one-point lead into the final three minutes, but James gave the Cowboys (21-14) a 68-67 lead with a pair of free throws with 2:38 remaining, and the Cowboys finished the game on a 6-0 run to advance to the championship.

The Wolverines trailed by three with 27 seconds remaining, but Toolson’s potential game-tying was off the mark as the Pokes held on to advance to Monday's final at Coastal Carolina in a best-of-three championship series.
