SALT LAKE CITY — FBI Director James Comey, under oath, admits he hates the New England Patriots; and one of the best sports GIFs you'll ever see. More fun stories from the world of sports in today's From Left Field.

James Comey hates the New England Patriots

We might be a bit late for this one, but it must be mentioned because it truly is a “From Left Field” moment involving sports … during an intelligence hearing with the Director of the FBI.

On Monday, FBI Director James Comey discussed Russia’s alleged involvement in last year’s presidential election and possible ties to President Trump’s campaign. During the House Intelligence Committee hearing, Comey used an interesting analogy, using the Super Bowl champions New England Patriots and his hatred of the team.

Um … OK?

Later, Comey, who was under oath during his testimony, clarified why he dislikes the Patriots. Answer: Comey is a New York Giants fan.

Say what you want about James Comey, but one thing we can all agree on is that he may never be welcomed in the New England area again … well, at least because of his hate of the Patriots.

Jamal Crawford drains rainbow half court three

LA Clippers guard Jamal Crawford is arguably the best off-the-bench player in NBA history. Crawford has won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award three times, the most in league history. One of Crawford’s best attributes, besides his acceptance to be an off-the-bench player, is that he’s a solid three-point shooter.

On Tuesday night, Crawford gave the Los Angeles crowd at Staples Center a treat with a half court, rainbow three to beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter of the Clippers’ blowout win over the Lakers.

Just listen to that swish and the crowd’s “Oh!”

Best hockey GIF ever?

Sometimes, there comes a GIF that completely embodies all the emotions in a sports moment.

Here is one of them.

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association championship ended with a game-winning goal. Michigan Tech defeated Bowling Green in double overtime this past weekend. But the best part was the camera view from over the crease, capturing the moment sports heartbreak and victory cross paths.

Just watch.
