MILLCREEK — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a car Sunday evening, and Unified police were looking for the motorist who allegedly caused the incident.

A 32-year-old man was riding a motorcycle on Vanwinkle (5100 South) just before 7 p.m., said Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke. As the rider was approaching 1300 East with a green light, a gray sedan that was originally stopped began to move through the red light, witnesses told police.

The motorcyclist hit his brakes and flew over the handlebars, Lohrke said. The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to a local hospital with a head injury, he said. The man was conscious but not alert when he was transported from the scene, Lohrke said.

The sedan quickly took off after the motorcyclist crashed. The only description police had of the vehicle was a light gray sedan, possibly a mid-2000s model with a rounded front end and "box-like" rear, being driven by a man.

Anyone with information can call police at 801-743-7000.
