RICHFIELD — Jace Eyre poured in 21 points as Panguitch held Valley to 11 in the first half and cruised to a 63-39 win Saturday to clinch the 1A boys basketball state championship at Sevier Valley Center.

Acey Orton added 15 points for the Bobcats (27-1), who pulled away using a 17-4 second quarter and never looked back.

Trey Barney scored 11 for Panguitch, and teammate Trevor Wolfley added eight points with a game-high two 3-pointers as the Bobcats won their first state title since 2014.

The Buffaloes were back in the title matchup after 22 years away, but fell behind early and couldn’t make up the difference.
