THE 101 — After living in Southern California for 10 years, I can tell you that Los Angeles freeways are no joke.

Even when traffic is moving at freeway speeds, you’ll find yourself among enough cars that you wonder why you’re not in a traffic jam. Then when you are in an actual traffic jam — and we’re not talking slow-and-go here — it’s an abysmal and unescapable scenario. Twenty-minute drive times turn into an hour and a half as the nerves of every driver become frazzled to the nth degree.

Even before I saw the video you’re about to see, I was a little mad about the opening scene of “La La Land.” Sure, as a musical lover I did wistfully wish that every L.A. traffic jam I was in ended up being an upbeat musical number. But the bigger part of me was internally screaming at those fools to get back into their cars already and quit mucking about and making things worse.

I’m glad that someone else felt that way, specifically YouTube user Kyle Helf. He recently posted a video that shows what that traffic jam and musical number would’ve been like for a woman in labor on the way to the hospital. It’s the stuff of nightmares.

While the real “La La Land” was a charming bittersweet hit that garnered 14 Oscar nominations, this parody is the most hysterical horror* short film you may ever see. (Plus it garnered the most “Martha laughs for today” awards. Pretty ritzy stuff.)

In the video, the pregnant woman sits in the back seat, sweating and fighting through labor pains. Her husband tries to comfort her and reassures her that traffic is about to break up soon. Then the music for “Another Day of Sun” starts...and the upbeat horror begins.

*No gore or births are portrayed in the film.
