ST. GEORGE — The family of a missing Logan teen is pleading with the public for more information on her whereabouts.
On Jan. 16, Sarah Dunsey was reported missing after not returning home from a trip to Las Vegas earlier that month, Logan police said. Police immediately treated this as a missing persons case.
“There has been enough information gathered and enough concern than she's definitely endangered,” said Logan Police Capt. Tyson Budge.
Police believe the 17-year-old went to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas with a group of juveniles from Utah she had just met. Dunsey's friends told police Sarah left with three older men.
“(The friends) kind of had a falling out down there and they just had seen her leave with these guys,” Budge said.
Police still have not been able to identify the men.
“She was in contact with some of these friends over emails and text messages for a period of several days, and we haven't heard anything from her in the month of February,” Budge said.
Family and friends tried to bring Dunsey back to Utah, buying her a bus ticket. But Sarah never showed.
That loss of communication is leading family members to believe Dunsey is being held against her will. They released a video Wednesday saying Sarah was abducted and is now a victim of sex trafficking. It is something police are looking into.
“It is a very reasonably possibility that she is in trouble that way,” Budge said. “She is still a 17-year-old girl, and whether she is there voluntarily or involuntarily, her welfare needs to be checked."
The video also pleads with Dunsey to stay strong:
"Sarah Bearah, this message is for you. I want you to fight because I need you. All of us need you, so fight. Okay? We are coming to get you."
The FBI, Las Vegas Metro Police Department along with the National Center for Endangered and Missing Children have joined the investigation.
Police say one of the last messages she sent to a friend was that she was going to try and make it to California and meet up with family in Los Angeles. Police have enough information to believe she is still in Las Vegas.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Sarah Dunsey is asked to call police. The public can also contact 310-310-9701 or visit findsarahdunsey.com to submit an anonymous tip.
