MILLCREEK — More than 60 pounds of "high-quality" marijuana were seized from a home in Millcreek on Wednesday, police said.
A search warrant was served on a house at 1553 E. 3115 South. It resulted in the discovery of 63 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $225,000 to $250,000, said Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke. Approximately $23,000 in cash was also seized.
The marijuana was all contained in vacuum-sealed bags inside plastic storage bins.
The investigation began due to tips from neighbors who reported a lot of short-term, in-and-out traffic at the house, Lohrke sad.
Kevin Mechling, 31, was arrested for investigation of drug possession and drug distribution. Detectives believe Mechling was supplying lower level dealers in the area, he said.
Despite finding 63 pounds of marijuana, Lohrke said the crime was still classified as a potential misdemeanor and Mechling was not booked into jail. No weapons were found in the house. He will be ordered to appear in court at a later time.
Investigators were still trying to determine Thursday where Mechling was getting the marijuana. Lohrke said there was no evidence of a growing operation inside his house.
